Press Release Body: December 5, 2007 - San Jose, CA

This week AnaSpec, one of the world's largest providers of custom and catalog
peptides, introduced eight (8) new catalog peptides and one new unusual amino acid.

Cls Substrate; C2 (5-FAM/ QXL 520)- Cat# 61314
This peptide is a second complement component (C2); the physiological substrate for
the proenzyme Cls; first complement component. The complement system is a central
component of host defense but can also contribute to the inflammation seen in
pathological conditions. The C1s protease of the C1 complex initiates the host
defense pathway. This peptide employs 5FAM/QXL520 FRET pair for quantitation of
complement enzyme activity.
Sequence: 5-FAM-SLGRKIQIK(QXL 520)-NH2

Cls Substrate; C2 (Abz/Dnp)- Cat# 61315
This peptide is a second complement component (C2); the physiological substrate for
the proenzyme Cls; first complement component. The complement system is a central
component of host defense but can also contribute to the inflammation seen in
pathological conditions. The C1s protease of the C1 complex initiates the host
defense pathway. This peptide employs 2Abz/Dnp FRET pair for quantitation of
complement enzyme activity.
Sequence: 2Abz-SLGRKIQIK(Dnp)-NH2

Cls Substrate; C4 (2Abz/Dnp)- Cat# 61316
This is the C4 (fourth complement component) peptide; a physiological FRET substrate
for the proenzyme Cls; a part of the C1compliment. C1s is a specific protease; that
cleaves the C4 and C2 components to instigate a sequence of activation steps of
complement system; culminating in the formation of the membrane attack complex;
which induces cell lysis.
Sequence: 2Abz-GLQRALEI-Lys(Dnp)-NH2

C2 substrate; (DABCYL/EDANS)- Cat# 61317
This peptide is a second complement component (C2); the physiological substrate for
the proenzyme Cls; first complement component. The C1 component is a complex of the
binding protein C1q and two proenzymes; C1r and C1s. The C1s protease of the C1
complex initiates the host defense pathway cleaving the C4 and C2 components to
instigate a sequence of activation steps of other components of the complement
system; culminating in the formation of the membrane attack complex; which induces
cell lysis. This peptide substrate is employing DABCYL /EDANS. FRET pair.
Sequence: DABCYL -SLGRKIQI-EDANS

C1-inhibitor (2Abz/Dnp)- Cat# 61318
This peptide is C1-inhibitor. C1; the first complement component-inhibitor peptide;
interacts with the serine protease Cls which is highly restricted in terms of its
substrate specificity. C1s interacts with its major substrates (C2 and C4) and
C1-inhibitor only. The complement system is a central component of host defense but
can also contribute to the inflammation seen in pathological conditions. The C1s
protease of the C1 complex initiates the host defense pathway. The C1-inhibitor may
be used to provide a basis for the development of specific inhibitors for
controlling inflammation in adverse pathological situations.
Sequence: 2Abz-SVARTLLVK(Dnp)-NH2

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Control Peptide Pool- Cat# 62339
This product contains 0.25 mg each of 5 CEF peptides: CEF20;21;22;23;33

Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) Control Peptide Pool- Cat# 62341
This product contains 0.25 mg each of 15 CEF peptides:
CEF10;11;12;14;15;16;17;18;19;27;28;29;30;31;32

DX 600; ACE2 Inhibitor- Cat# 62337
A potent inhibitor specific for ACE2. It has a Ki of 2.8 nM.
Sequence: Ac-GDYSHCSPLRYYPWWKCTYPDPEGGG-NH2

Pyroglutamic acid / Pyr-OH - Cat# 21691 (25g), 21689 (5g)
